Mission and Vision:

MISSION

VSAV is a planned program to provide world-class, results-oriented, credible, timely, and highly cost effective services to assist veterans and their families with transition and integration issues wherever they may live.

VISION

VSAV will provide free life-time support to veterans and their families dealing with issues associated with transition and integration into our communities.  VSAV’s unique approach is our Peer Advisors – experienced veterans committed to ensuring issues are resolved and caring for the veterans and their families for life.

The success of the organization will result in expansion of our services across the nation.  Based on the analysis of veterans’ demographics, this expansion is intended to provide our peer advisor capability wherever veterans and their families live.  The expansion toward a regional capability will ensure VSAV remains relevant to the needs of the veteran population.

VSAV ServicesVSAV provides a solution that meets all of the currently understood criteria for mitigating such adjustment issues, and as a result, also the potential for reducing the onset of Post Traumatic Stress (PTS). The VSAV solution uniquely mobilizes the Nation’s established Veterans to play vital roles in community educational efforts in order to create an environment that is supportive of, and responsive to, New Veterans in dealing with the stresses of their transition to civilian life. These established Veterans are strongly motivated to engage in this effort because of a historical reality that has been repeatedly demonstrated for generations: Veterans are always Veterans --- and they never stop taking care of their own.

VSAV is organized to provide services to Veterans, and their families, under three unique aspects. First, and most critical, is the Peer Advisor. Peer advisors are the first line of the organization and comprised of Veterans, specially trained to assist new Veterans with their transition issues.

These Peer advisors will coordinate efforts by established Veterans, other volunteers, and community activities in providing knowledgable support and advice to those new Veterans for whom separation from the military is providing to be particularly challenging.

The next aspect is an accessible database of established Veteran-owned or Veteran-staffed organizations that support community services (banking, real estate, education, etc.). The value of the database provides a “friendly” connection with another Veteran who has experienced the same or similar challenges to transition.

The final aspect of VSAV is the association with other Veteran organizations, organizations that assist Veterans, and community organizations that focus on activities that help with new arrivals.

The most significant strength of the VSAV program is that it is built on the remarkable lifelong commitment made by Veterans to their country and to the brotherhood of all Veterans. See enclosed VSAV White Paper for additional information.
